  • Boats an impressive mix of features at a great price
  • Propulsion™ Line Management System
  • Cold-forged-aluminum spool
  • S A-RB® ball bearings
  • S®-Concept engineering
  • Slow Oscillation technology

The Symetre Spinning Reel from Shimano offers an impressive mix of features at a great price! The ultra-popular Symetre Spinning Reel now features Shimano's Propulsion™ Line Management System, combining five advanced components for superior casting and smooth, twist-free retrieves. Cold-forged aluminum spool; reliable S-Concept engineering with Fluidrive® II, Floating Shaft, Dyna-Balance®, Super Stopper® II and Slow Oscillation system.

Propulsion Line Management System 5 key components (spool lip, bail wire, roller, bail trip and cam) have all been completely redesigned to reduce friction and promote uniformity of line movement. The result: more casting distance, less friction, fewer backlashes and wind knots, and greatly reduced line twist.

Anti-Rust Bearings (A-RB™) are at least 10 times more corrosion-resistant than standard stainless steel bearings. A-RB bearings are the only way to go!

Super Stopper® is Shimano’s exclusive instant anti-reverse system. Built with a one-way roller bearing that eliminates all back play in the handle-for instant hooksetting power.

Power Roller® reduces line twist by as much as 50%. Its special grooved design assures that the line will be evenly wrapped on the spool, to minimize loops and twists that can occur on the cast.

Dyna-Balance® eliminates wobble on the retrieve by counter-balancing the rotor to enhance sensitivity and smoothenss. 100% computer balanced!

Fluiddrive® gearing means that your reel was manufactured with the highest tolerances and utmost control in the gear-cutting process, to ensure a smooth, powerful retrieve every time.

Absolutely it does! I am an avid Smallmouth angler and I have been using braided line for every application possible for Smallies! I have been using the 3000 Symetre now for the past 2 seasons, it handles braid flawlessly when fishing tubes, dropshots, jerkbaits, and even deep water shakey head fishing. They are great, you will not be disapointed. One added feature, the Propulsion spool really does improve casting distance, and my best guess would be an increase of 15% on casting distance. Have fun!!!

A:
Ya, I have the problem with both of mine. You'll have to tear it all apart and I mean all apart, remove all grease, regrease/reoil.

If you do that it will work just Ok for a while. Mine last 5 or 6 outtings and then I have to repeate the whole process again. They never work or feel as smooth as when I first bought them. Quite a few others have the same problem.

I don't have any problems with mine, maybe the spool shaft is a little off or bent, it does that with another Shimano reel that is 8 yrs old.
